Summary
Assistant Professor Ekatherina Tzvetanova-Georgieva, Ph.D. is a full-time lecturer at the Department of Administration and Management of the New Bulgarian University. She completed her secondary education in Sofia in 2005 in a class with a profile in mathematics and computer science. In July 2010 she graduated with the highest honors from the College of Management, Trade and Marketing with a specialization in Marketing. In 2013, she graduated with the highest honors from the Master's Program in International Business at NBU. She also studied in the master's program "Statistics and Financial Econometrics" at the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". In 2018, she obtained the Ph.D. degree in "Business Administration" with the dissertation on: "Adaptation of the Altman model for assessing the risk of corporate bankruptcy to the Bulgarian conditions".
Dr. Tzvetanova-Georgieva's professional career from 2013 to 2018 includes working as a macroeconomic analyst and consultant in a management consulting company. Administratively, she has worked in various positions at the NBU. Since 2017, she has been a program consultant for one of the largest bachelor programs "Business Management and Entrepreneurship". From July 2021 to September 2024 she was the Director of the School of Professional and Continuing Education (UPPO) at NBU, where she managed the organization of public lectures, short-term trainings, professional qualifications, workshops, master and professional classes, and other forms of training outside the academic activity of NBU. Since July 2024 she is the Dean of the Faculty of General Studies of NBU.
Dr. Tzvetanova-Georgieva's scientific interests are related to modeling of economic processes, risk management, credit risk assessment, etc. She participates as an expert in several projects related to the asset quality review in the Bulgarian banking sector, the implementation of risk management systems and the construction of credit risk assessment models. She is interested in the practical application of quantitative methods in the agricultural sector and participates in two Horizont2020 projects - TUdi and NOVASOIL. She built the first social determinants of health (SDoH) model for the Bulgarian population, called BG Health Index.
