Summary
Denitza Toptchiyska is Associate professor of Law at the New Bulgarian University since 2016 lecturing on General Theory of Law, Information Society Law and Constitutional Justice.
After graduating in Law and obtaining a Doctoral degree with a dissertation on the topic of EU Data Protection Policy at Sofia University, she worked as a legal expert at the Communications Regulation Commission. She is the author of the monography “The Rule of Law. Theoretical aspects” and specialised publications in the field of legal theory and philosophy, human rights, data protection and freedom of information and internet governance.
In the academic year 2020-2021 Denitza Toptchiyska was a Fulbright visiting research scholar at the University of Notre Dame, USA and a visiting scholar at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas, France working on her comparative research project “Law, governance and new technologies: US and EU regulatory approaches. In 2023 and 2024 she was appointed as a visiting professor at the University Lyon 2 in France. Since 2023 she is an international research fellow at the Centre for Information Society Law of the University di Milano, Italy.
