- Didactics of interpretation and translation and critical analysis of discourse: Study of interpretation and translation, with particular emphasis on didactic, historical and intercultural aspects, as well as critical discourse analysis, especially political and economic, considering the multimodal dimension.
- Translation and didactics of children's and youth literature: Study of the translation and didactics of children's and youth literature from various countries with the aim of bringing this translated multicultural writing closer to schools within the framework of intercultural education. The focus in the exploration will be interdisciplinary, so that literature and translation are related to other disciplines, with special attention to cinema.
- Contact and transfer of knowledge in the texts between China and the West: Study of the intercultural encounter between China and the West through texts written by Westerners about China and its language or by Chinese about the West, as well as translations to and from Chinese. Aspects such as the transfer of knowledge and the vision of the other that is reflected in the texts are analyzed, as well as linguistic issues resulting from the comparison of Chinese with European languages.
- Travel literature: Study of German-speaking travellers, naturalists, scientists, academics, among others, who visited the Canary Islands from the end of the 15th century to 1914, with special attention to the 19th century, and their respective contributions/investigations on different aspects of the Archipelago. The study extends to some English-speaking travellers, as well as to translations of texts emanating from English-speaking and German-speaking travellers.
- Translation and interculturality: Translation as a spectific form of intercultural communication; the translator's expert competence as a professional intercultural mediator; intercultural perception and its relevance for translational action; teaching methodologies of translator cultural competence, with special emphasis on preconceptions and empathy in novice translators.
- Applied Technologies and Intercultural Competition in the acquisition of foreign languages: This research addresses the interrelationship of languages and cultures in the process of learning/teaching, as well as fields related to intercultural sensitivity and the understanding of other cultures in relation to one¿s own. The fact that languages cannot be separated from their social and cultural contexts of use is widely recognised nowadays.
- Historiography of interpretation: Study of the role of interpreters throughout history in general and, especially, of those who mediated in the conquest and subsequent Spanish history of the Canary Islands, and in the Spanish Inquisition.
- Anglicisms and Intercultural Mediation: Study of the influence of the Anglo-American language and culture on other cultures, both in general and in specific languages, including the role of translators, interpreters and intercultural mediators in communicating between people of different cultural conventions.
- Historiography of translation: Study of the role played by translators of historical and literary texts throughout history in general, and especially in relation to the Canary Islands.
