Summary

The purpose of the project is to explore the restorative capacity of narratives in contexts of personal, social and community fragility, and to identify criteria to enable discernment and modeling of the characteristics that generate a “restorative” narrative. Not all forms of narrative have a “restorative” intent: some are exclusionary or generate stereotypes. Therefore, there is an urgent need to clarify the values underlying narrative constructs through an interdisciplinary approach. A restorative narrative is a story that shows how people and communities learn to rebuild and recover after going through difficult times. These types of narratives can involve all types of media: journalism, books, documentary films, photography, games, and more.
