Summary

- Passive immunity transfer: Study of the passive immune transfer in newborn mammals specially ruminants. Colostrum quality and feeding
- Parasite-hosted interaction: The Canaria Hair Breed sheep is more resistant to gastrointestinal nematodes than the Canaria sheep. Our group is working –in this research line- trying to clarify the mechanisms that explain this greater resistance.
- Quality of Animal Origin Products: Effects of production systems, management and genetic on the production and products quality
- Applied immunology, native breeds, well -being and resilience in animal welfare: The line of research focused on the development of biotechnology using the animal immune system and autochthonous breeds to improve animal welfare and the resilience of the primary sector by optimizing the health, productivity, and sustainability of livestock systems
- Fisiology of lactation: This line of research studies the lactation physiology in ruminants to avoid metabolic unbalances to improve not only animal performance, but also animal welfare and health status.
- Parasitic biodiversity: To study the parasitofauna of endemic, feral and introduced species in the Canary archipelago, assessing their zoonotic impact and impact on ecosystems, as well as the consequences of climate change, other effects, both iatrogenic and natural on the distribution of parasites in the Canarian ecosystem .
- Alternative Parasitosis Control: Increasing resistance to drugs requires the search for alternative control methods. This line explores alternatives to drugs that promote more sustainable livestock development
