Summary

- Maritime Transport and International Trade: Analysis of trade flows from the perspective of maritime transport in order to associate these flows with those of ship movements, giving special attention to Short Sea Shipping. This analysis includes the preparation of ship fleet deployment optimization models to satisfy a demand for goods between countries, as well as the analysis of connectivity between specific countries or ports. Likewise, the preparation of partial and general equilibrium economic models is contemplated for the analysis of the economic impact of issues related to trade or environmental policies. Finally, we would like to highlight the importance of the study of multimodality as well as the recent competition of cargo air transport. and the need to incorporate freight transport demand models into the research efforts.
- Port economy: Analysis of the operation of the ports, both from the institutional and economic efficiency points of view. In the institutional sphere, the way in which port services are managed through agreements between the public and private sectors comes into question. In the field of port efficiency analysis, we consider the analysis of efficiency frontiers, among others. Likewise, the analysis of the importance of ports in maritime transport is contemplated.
