Summary
- The employer: las relaciones laborales en el nuevo contexto del Siglo XXI: The employer: new issues arising in the framework of 21st century labour relations: Small entrepreneurs, self-employed without employees and other business realities in the context of the new forms adopted by the Industry 4.0 economy; Collaborative economics; Corporate Social Responsibility; Occupational Risk Prevention; Equality and non-discrimination; Digitalisation of the economy and digital rights; Collective conflicts; etc
- Environment and sustainability: In most of our territory, tourism takes place on the coast, but, in addition, both this (the so-called sun and beach tourism) and the rest of the tourist activities that have tried to diversify the latter, are activities that require natural resources for their development. Hence the need to study the coastline, the territory in which the various tourist activities take place, in general, as well as the administrative control of these activities, both regulated and unregulated, in particular. Furthermore, the design of new regulatory tools to increase the effectiveness of the management of such important sectors for the Canarian economy, either because of their size, such as tourism, or because of their strength and potential, such as aquaculture, or the new challenges of so-called "collaborative tourism", will contribute to the sustainable development of these sectors, even encouraging synergies such as ecotourism in these farms, where until now there have often only been incompatibilities.
- From Roman institutions to modern law: relaciones comerciales, vulnerabilidad social y medio ambiente: Research and analysis of Roman law and its current and necessary influence on current legal systems.
- Tourist hiring: The entrepreneur and the company are dynamic elements of any economy. Their activity, inter-company relations and, fundamentally, the relationship with the consumer as purchaser or user of the goods and services offered on the market require a detailed study of these relations and the responsibility of the entrepreneur, whether social or individual. Tourism, in particular, is one of the key sectors of the Canary Islands' economy. The new contractual figures, condo-hotels, dynamic packages, holiday homes, etc., require an effort to deal with their regulation with security, so that the businessman can deal with his activity with solvency, but at the same time, the user can count on extra security from the perspective of the execution of what has been agreed and the protection not only of his health and physical integrity, but also of his legitimate economic rights.
- Entrepreneur Company and Business Activity: The entrepreneur, whether individual or company, as the holder of the business activity, is constantly changing, not so much because of the activity itself, but because of the regulations that affect them. In recent years, there have been legislative changes that have generally affected the individual entrepreneur (for example, the limitation of the latter's liability), as well as the company (the changes made to the Capital Companies Act to reform corporate governance, among others). But there is more: tourism entrepreneurs, due to their activity, are also subject to multiple sectorial regulations that affect their activity and require constant attention, fundamentally when other operators arise, apparently outside the regulatory framework, that provide the same goods or services, under the protection of what has come to be known as the collaborative economy.
