Summary

- Innovation in management in tourism companies: Non-technological innovation has received an increasing academic interest in recent times. This research line addresses management innovation, that is usually developed without a special infrastructure and is particularly important in service activities.
- Information technology in educational management and management training: Educational management is a form of management with characteristics that are both similar to and different from those of other organisations. In this context, the role of information technology as a support tool to facilitate educational management is studied. Furthermore, from another perspective, it is analysed how information technology can support training processes in the field of business management. Previous publications in this field:
- Resources and capacities in hospitality and tourism training centers: This research line aims to analyse the role that resources and capabilities of tourism and hospitality education centres plays on performance, both in terms of learning outcomes and in reputation.
- Organizational behavior and managerial skills in tourism companies: The study of the human behaviour in organisations in different levels (individual, group, and organisational) is the core of this line. Linked to organizational behaviour as supporting discipline, the analysis of management skills is a relevant aspect in this line, especially regarding conceptual and human skills.
- Family Business Management: Managerial dynamics of the family business are studied, with a special focus on the analysis of the succession process that is key for the transgenerational entrepreneurship.
- Education in Business and Tourism Management: Due to its impact on human resources and organisational management, the central aspects of this research line address educational aspects of training, professional careers and talent management.
- Intangible resources and capacities in tourism companies: This research line focuses on the relevance of intangible assets as competitive resources in firms.
- HR management in tourism companies: Human resources must be managed in a strategic way in order to align employees¿ knowledge, skills and behaviours with business goals. This approach is the basis for the central focus of this research line.
- Energy management and policy: The economic development of societies is closely linked to the efficient management of energy resources. In this research domain, regional energy development policies are analysed from a technical, economic and environmental point of view in order to offer a critical perspective and development proposals of an integrative nature. - Knowledge networks in the tourism industry: The influence of collaborative practices and network work among different agents on competitive advantages for firms and destinations in the tourism sector is studied.
- Entrepreneurship and knowledge: The core of this research line is the creation of new ventures and their management in the first years of existence where the entrepreneur¿s and some other agents¿ knowledge becomes paramount.
- Competitiveness and management of companies and destinations in the tourism sector: In the framework of this research line, the analysis of competitiveness elements and managerial techniques and aspects is addressed, both in the level of tourism and hospitality firms and in the level of tourism products and destinations.
- Management and knowledge and innovation processes: Research on knowledge management processes in firms is conducted, with an emphasis on those related to knowledge creation, transfer and replication. In addition, studies on innovation as a change strategy in organisations are developed.
