Summary

This research project examines modern Afro-descendant communities, exploring their identities and languages, including artistic-visual and musical languages, from a decolonial perspective. The project focuses on plural representations and narratives beyond traditional identities, challenging monocultural and Eurocentric ideas. Through a transdisciplinary approach, it will dwell on the contemporary world, investigating present awareness in relation to history -- from narratives to the recognition of otherness and biographical-autobiographical histories -- to promote a reinterpretation of the concepts of identity and pluri/multilingualism as dynamic, relational and interconnected elements. Research paths will be developed that explore the possibility of recovering languages that promote participation, examining concepts such as creolization and Afropolitanism, and expanding lexicons that help to better understand the complexity of current political and social discourses.
